Who We Are

WE SEEK TO TRANSFORM THROUGH DESIGN

We provide creative responses to cultural, commercial, and residential design challenges. We craft architectural interventions that are both dynamic and in harmony with the established character of their surroundings. Our integrated design approach consistently produces evocative and sustainable work that grows organically out of its context.

WE ACTIVELY PARTNER WITH OUR CLIENTs

A cornerstone of our philosophy is creating lasting relationships with our clients, built on shared vision and trust. We internalize each of our client’s goals, realizing their vision while embracing and reflecting their unique identity. We do this by immersing ourselves in their culture and by continuously and closely collaborating with their key stakeholders throughout the design and construction processes.

WE ARE INVESTED IN OUR CLIENTS’ SUCCESSES

We strive to address our clients’ challenges through design that exceeds their expectations and inspires new possibilities. We have helped numerous institutions create, transform and evolve their facilities over a decade or more. We take pride in remaining a resource for our clients long after the completion of our initial project together.

WHAT WE DO

Much of our work explores the interplay between new and old. We specialize in creating new designs in historic contexts, and we have a special reputation for the design of contemporary additions to historic buildings, and their adaptive reuse. Our vision is complemented by our extensive understanding of older methods of construction, preservation standards, and our technical expertise. We see ourselves as part of the historic process, adding a contemporary layer that is required to serve the programmatic needs of the client.

We work closely with our clients to proactively manage their design and construction schedules in order to keep projects on track. We advocate for a rigorous cost-control process during the design process to reconcile aesthetic goals and budget and to reduce the need for redesign later in the process. By establishing and following a thoughtful and mutually agreeable work plan, we increase the likelihood that the process will unfold logically, that decisions will be made in a timely fashion, and that all members of the team will be prepared to execute efficiently and in harmony.
