Debora Barros has been practicing architecture and preservation for over 14 years with experience in New York, the United Kingdom and Brazil. Since joining PBDW in 2007, she has worked extensively on the firm’s preservation and adaptive reuse projects such as the Park Avenue Armory and the New-York Historical Society. She also has experience with residential, commercial, and corporate interiors projects in the United States and Brazil. As a heritage consultant in the United Kingdom, she prepared conservation plans for major redevelopment projects in Manchester and London, including the conservation work and design of a new setting for the relocation of the Manchester Cenotaph. Ms. Barros is currently lending her expertise as the Project Manager behind PBDW’s restoration of the Palace Theatre and the exterior restoration of the Museum of the City of New York. Ms. Barros’ passion for architecture and preservation continues beyond our office walls as she has lead architecture tours in NYC and Brazil (the latter as a supporting member of Docomomo US), and has served as guest critic at City College.
Debora received her Master’s Degree in Historic Preservation from Columbia University in 2005, a Certificate in Conservation of Archaeological Sites from the Università degli Studi di Firenze, Florence, in 2011, and her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Brasília, Brazil, in 1999.
